I WAS LEAVING JEKYLL,ISLE.,GA. AFTER SPENDING THE WEEKEND TOURING
HISTORIC PLACES AND TAKING PICTURES.SOMETHING MADE ME TURN AROUND AFTER PASSING A BOOKSTORE,"JEKYLL BOOKS AT THE OLD INFIRMARY".I
WENT IN LOOKING TO PURCHASE"GHOSTS OF THE GEORGIA COAST"BY DON FARRANT(I WAS THRILLED TO FIND OUT IT WAS A SIGNED COPY.)I
NOTICED AN OBSCURE SIGN ON THE WALL SAYING "THIS SHOP IS HAUNTED BY THE GHOSTS OF GREAT WRITERS AND ..?"AFTER INQUIRING, I
WAS TOLD TO GO UPSTAIRS TO LOOK AROUND,THE SPIRIT WAS PROBABLY UP THERE.AFTER WALKING AROUND,SENSING SOME COLD SPOTS,THE LIGHT
WENT OUT IN THE HALL.BY THEN,OTHER CUSTOMERS,INTERESTED IN OUR SEARCH,BEGAN TO FOLLOW US.WE WENT IN A ROOM AND
SENSED THAT SHE WAS IN THE CHAIR.I FELT THAT HER NAME IS PHOEBE AND I THAT HER HUSBAND IS AROUND HERE TOO.I TOOK
A PICTURE,AND WE ALL REMARKED ON THE COLDNESS OF THE ROOM AND THE FRAGRANCE OF ROSES. I THINK SHE STAYS UP HERE,SHE
DOESN'T LIKE IT DOWNSTAIRS,THERES TOO MANY PEOPLE.MR.FARRANT'S BOOK INCLUDES A STORY ABOUT THIS BOOKSTORE.THE HOUSE WAS BUILT
IN 1890,AND WAS PART OF AN ELITE GROUP OF SUMMER COTTAGES,FIRST KNOWN AS THE FURNEFF COTTAGE,AND LATER OWNED BY THE PULITZER'S
AND THE GOODYEAR'S.LATER,IT WAS USED AS AN INFIRMARY FOR THIS ELITE GROUP OF VACATIONERS.
